相较2020年，2008年的本质区别是当美国出现危机以后，QE第一次出现，扩表在当时被认为是前所未有的。有趣的是，美国并没有产生通胀，当时的传统货币理论认为美国会通胀，但其实是不可能发生的，因此在现象出现后大家也都接受了。
通胀在当时的美国不可能出现的本质原因是出现了一个重要的变化：金融危机后，美国企业和居民有很明显的资产负债表缩减的过程，因为资产负债表受损，所以有巨大的信贷收缩力量。且当时的财政政策跟2020年的完全不一样，当时奥巴马政府很难做强力的财政投放，这个过程使得经济的天然推动力量有限，避免通胀......
