新的公务员法于 2018 年 12 月 29 日经第十三届全国人民代表大会常务委员会第七次会议修订，并于 2019 年 6 月 1 日起实施。
新公务员法在第九十三条中提出，公务员符合下列条件之一的，本人自愿提出申请，经任免机关批准，可以提前退休：
一是工作年限满 30 年；
二是距国家规定的退休年龄不足 5 年，且工作年限满 20 年；
三是符合国家规定的可以提前退休的其他情形。
按照现行满 6 岁可以上小学的规定，一般情况下，通常能在 22 岁左右大学本科毕业，25 岁左右研究生毕业，25 岁左右考入公务员队伍参加工作的情况并不少见。按照新的公务员法，意味着相当一部分人在 55 岁左右就可以申请提前退休。
公务员提前退休仍能享受到一定的福利待遇。新公务员法明确，公务员退休后，享受国家规定的养老金和其他待遇，国家为其生活和健康提供必要的服务和帮助，鼓励发挥个人专长，参与社会发展。
这样的规定，对公务员来说是不是一种福利呢？公务员提前退休的意愿强不强呢？记者选择了部委、省、市等各级公务员展开小范围采访调查，结果发现：有人拍手叫好；也有人坚持不会提早退休。
