苏格兰首席大臣、主张独立的苏格兰民族党主席斯特金11月2日在格拉斯哥的一次集会演讲中说，12月12日的英国议会大选将是她“此生最重要的一次选举”。斯特金对没有受邀参加与约翰逊、科尔宾的电视辩论表示不满，并强调她愿意“在任何时间及地点与他们同台辩论”。
斯特金在演讲中警告说，如果约翰逊首相的保守党在12月大选中获胜，便意味着苏格兰将被强行撕离出欧盟大家庭，而这将是违背苏格兰人民的意愿的。斯特金认为，届时的苏格兰最好是走另一条道路：成为独立国家。
斯特金还曾在11月1日表示，将在圣诞节前向伦敦正式申请举行第二次“苏独公投”。不过，英国政府并不一定会批准这一申请。在2014年的公投中，55%的选民反对苏格兰脱离英国独立；而在2016年的英国脱欧公投中，多达62%的苏格兰地区选民反对脱离欧盟。英国脱欧进程正式启动后，苏格兰再次举行独立公投的呼声日渐响亮。
